About Me

Marius Sidau: I am a second year Master's student in Cultural Anthropology at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. Starting with fall 2012 I will begin my PhD studies. I was born in 1978 in Bucharest, Romania and I grew up in the Maramures county. I immigrated to the United States in 2005. My anthropological interests are primarily the Anthropology of Religion (specializing in Eastern Orthodoxy, Byzantine Catholicism and Roman Catholicism), but also Identity and Ethnicity, Nationalism, Globalization and Post Socialism and the Russian Old Believers. My geography area specialization targets Eastern Europe (especially Romania), North America, the Russian Far North and the Russian Far East.
